Seems like it needs more R&D and a desire from people to change or for the rest of us to understand the issues enough to press for change on a realistic time scale.
I think the time is coming to an end for these big tech companies, as more people learn computer science, and as part of that critical thinking, they start to question what facebook are doing, and the tide is slowly turning, the fact the FTC are on the side of end users is a good thing.
FTC Warns Tax Prep Companies Against Invasive #Online #Tracking
From @themarkup
Last year The Markup revealed that tax prep companies sent sensitive personal information/tax related info/financial info to #Facebook without clear disclosure or expressed consent. This was primarily happening because of the #Meta Pixel, which collects data on websites that implement it - regardless if you have a Facebook/Meta company account.
Afterall, who files taxes and expects that information get straight to Facebook/Meta when using a tax prep software?

What is the lifespan of cargo ships, can new ships be built to take hydrogen or bio fuels, can current ships be converted ?
Agreed, politicians are more worried about election results than long term plans.
@zleap

A group of veterans in the UK are trying to sue the government for the potential damage / harm done to their parents and possibly their children in these tests. They are also trying to gain access to medical records which are locked away and despite being told they can be made available are not being made available.

Can we afford NOT to ban fossil fuel cars, given the cost of heatwaves, fires, flooding etc.
Climate events will just wipe whole areas out, mother nature does not care if you are rich, poor, what ethnic group you are or what gender you use, it will just destroy everything in it's path,
Insurance companies will wise up and make it more expensive to get insurance,

I agree, we need to do a better job of reaching out to different groups,
The schame being run by the royal society, is aimed at helping black PhD students, if we need more people taking an interest this needs to be at the school level too, get kids interested at school and find out why they are not taking things further.
An example could be Protate cancer, which does seem to be affecting 1 in 4 BAME people, there HAS to be a reason for this, this could provide a way in.
We need both research in this area and also people to come forward to be part of studies etc.
I am not an expert by any means but people lose family members and that gives them a reason to say raise money for research,
Thing is we NEED more black people at the PhD level but what about teachers, technicians the very people who all kids are in contact with at an early age, those people are a big influence on children and also parents.
I will see if the royal society can send me some more info so that I can promote at my local library.
I would hope, here on Mastodon, where we are likely to be free from political campaigning, we can take each parties manifesto, and discuss rationally and critically, regardless of our political preferences.
That way when it comes to polling, we can make an informed decison.
