A free online spreadsheet of 100 #UK #NativePlants & #WildFlowers for your garden.

Use native plants where possible, as they’ve co-evolved with wildlife & provide the best food source.

@ProjectFearlessness

At the last GE the tories broke down the red wall of Labour seats, on the promise of helping the north, I can see that well being built back up at the Next GE, but stronger.

Unless you live in London and the SE, then we are NOT remotely important to the Tories.

@Independent

We have rules and laws to do this, what is needed is ENFORCEMENT so those who commit these crimes face the music without being able to cry unfair dismissal when sacked.

@jackiegardina @zleap

White ppl's militia fantasies don't require baseball bats or batons, so guns are legal while other self defense tools are not.

Stupid laws like this have a special benefit of giving police the *discretion* to choose who to arrest (black/brown ppl). If a white person and black person are pulled over and searched & cops find plastic knuckles in the car, only 1 of them is likely going to jail. Goofy laws that make random things illegal always further white supremacy.

Exactly with any luck Trump will be in Prison soon as none of his lawyers can represent his idiot when all the evidence against him is hard to argue agaisnt.

@zleap There's never been a more useful idiot to Putin than Trump. But he likes to pull the ripcord on folks who might squeal, so.

@Letha_Hughes

No Wonder less people go to church, well at least in the UK we are seeing the truth

@aka_quant_noir

I think Putin was hoping the USA would vote in Trump in 2020, perhaps it would be better if the USA caused a fatal 'accident'

@Gamrok @DavidBFox @grumpygamer

The one in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade seems mild by comparison.

For those who haven't played it, the joke here is that Marcus asks you to translate something (looking up some symbols included with the game). If you fail, Indy will later mistranslate "Grail" as "Grain", making it impossible to proceed with the game.

(Screenshots from the Macintosh version of the game. I don't own a copy of the 16 color DOS version.)

Change takes time, and it is heading in the right direction

When I was 15 years old, a gay man named Matthew Shepard was brutally tortured and murdered. That was 25 years ago, today, October 6, 1998.

This was not called a hate crime at the time, and it was another 10 years before gender, sexual orientation, and disability were included in federal hate crime legislation.

I'd like to say that the world has changed. In some ways, it has. (Hi! I'm gay! — and I'm an engineering manager at a major global corporation, which I couldn't have imagine would be possible in my lifetime.)

But in many ways, the world hasn't changed. The same intensity and depth of stigma is still there in many parts of the world. We've created little channels of tolerance here and there, but bias and the stigma that powers is are still swirling around us, like an airborne virus barely held back by positive pressure.

Keep it up, and don't let your guard down. I can't.

@girlabtvillage

That was an old TV programme showing outtakes from BBC program. Auntie being a nickname for the BBC.

I love a science mystery, and this is a good one:
About once a year, a mysterious blue flash appears from a different part of the sky, then fades in a matter of days. Nobody knows what these things are. And the latest one, nicknamed "the Finch," may be the strangest one yet.

I was just reading about a man who claims his body only fights viruses on Saturdays and Sundays.
His doctors say he has a weekend immune system.

The Rishi Sunak land sell off on what would have been the HS2 Birmingham-Crewe line has been criticised as ‘spiteful’ sale of land and as ‘salting the earth’ since a subsequent government cannot later restart the project. Those criticisms seem very legit. theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/o

@emilymbender

Reminds me of schools, kid gets bullied or assaulted and they just come out with their standard statement they are committed to safeguarding, every time. If they were properly committed then the bullying would not be happening as the school environment would be more inclusive.

Yeah, our software sucks, but the world is just gonna have to deal, you know? Because this kind of software sucks but we're still gonna keep putting out there.
