🚨 Scotland's new buffer zones will offer the strongest protections in the UK.

Gillian Mackay MSP's bill, which has been published today, will end the intimidation and harassment of patients and staff outside medical facilities.

I am heartbroken today by the story of the 14-year-old boy who was hit by two cars in the town next to mine and is in critical condition.

I am sure that the victim-blaming is already happening - because the idiotic public discourse almost never considers infrastructure choices as factors.

So much misinformation is going to spread regarding Israel and Palestine. Be careful and fact check before you add to that spread .

"Nothing like this has happened in the modern history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; even the bloody Second Intifada in the early 2000s never saw this kind of mass incursion into Israeli territory. Now an outright war between Israel and Hamas has begun, one whose consequences for the conflict and the broader Middle East we can only dimly anticipate. The only thing we can be certain about the future is that many, many people are about to die."

@Free_Press

The problem I see, is that if this stops and the hatred / misrtrust remains, it is only a matter of time before it starts again. perhaps they DO need to fight it out, and yes that means 1000s die on each side, but that area seems a powder keg that keeps going off.

Peace perhaps need to be a result of the middle eastern countries and esp those that border Isreal / Gaza / Westbank finding a solution, It hardly helps that the west removed gadaffi from Libya and left a mess in it's wake. Perhaps the middle east is simple better off telling the US especially to sort its own issues out at home before lecturing others.

It is not as if the USA is currently without lots of seruous issues.

BREAKING NEWS

Already hundreds of dead Palestinians

The death and destruction brought from both sides these past 12 hours is horrific.

@HeavenlyPossum

Fair point, I am from the UK we seem to have a good few parties here.

@HeavenlyPossum

This is where you need a 3rd political party to put these issues in their manifesto.

The US public consistently expresses majority support for policies like Medicare for All, higher taxes on the rich, free university education, debt erasure, rent control, legal abortion, and statehood for DC.

The US lacks these because the US political system does not exist to implement the public’s preferences.

@itnewsbot

Perhaps if this bill was sent to the associated social media companies on 31st December each year they would actually DO something about it.

Horrified and heartbroken at the barrage of attacks by Hamas upon civilians in Israel. Innocent people suffer the consequences of violent extremism, and this kind of terrorism only produces deeper, more intractable problems. My thoughts and hopes are for peace, and for democracy for all people in the region, but such a future is proving ever more elusive, I fear.

If you’re British, you might want to sign this.

If you’re not, please boost.

The current Prime Minister was not voted in, and he’s making a lot of decisions that will harm most of the UK; everyone will be affected. Time to call a general election and let the public decide for better or worse (harder to imagine the latter tbh)

@Teaceratops over 200k signatures, double what is needed for a debate in the house of commons.

@afewbugs I really don't understand what the problem is with sharing #sheep grazing and #solar panels.
Take a look at sheep in a field on a hot day and you'll understand why it's a really good idea to install solar panels there.

@afewbugs

It doesn't like anything that goes against their thinking, so the science leads on climate change but that gets in the way of them allowing big oil to drill as that way the government get revenue from that. I guess
