It is strange and disturbing to see so many posts on social media that deny it's a war crime to stage a surprise attack on civilians (including murders, kidnappings, and rapes) or to starve out a civilian population (by cutting off electricity, food, and water).

These are both obviously war crimes and should be discussed as such.

I wonder what other horrors will be unleashed while the worlds eyes are on the middle east ?

@BlackAzizAnansi

This sort of thing happens in the UK too, if a young persons hair is more aligned to their culture, and not school hair policy then some end up in isolation.

I really don't see how ones hair style has anyting to do with education

Clearly in a science lab or machine (e.g woodwork, metal work) environment, then hair should be secured. but that is purely and mostly for safety, long hair getting entangled in machinery can cause serious injury or death, however that is a slightly different issue and if explained correctly people understand.

We would be greatful if you could amplify our voice & let your followers know that the Auschwitz Memorial is present in #fediverse: @auschwitzmuseum

Every day we commemorate the victims & educate about the tragic human history of #Auschwitz.

Auschwitz is a place that shows where hatred, antisemitism and contempt for a fellow man led people decades ago.

It is also a place where we should reflect on our individual and collective responsibility for the world we live in.

They have NO right or any right to breach international law.

Even if the enemy do that, you maintain the higher ground legally, ethically and morally.

Someone should explain that to Netenyahu perhaps then maybe to sir Keir

It's absolutely clear to me: this man is unfit for public office.

Hamas does not care for their people. They use them as human shields. Caring for the deaths of Palestinians, Jewish and all Israeli people is NOT TO BE CONFUSED with supporting Hamas. So many Israeli Arabs and Palestinians hate Hamas for their crimes against their own people and their Jewish friends. Stop being ridiculous. Don't support a death cult. Support humans who just want to live a peaceful life. Support families. Support love health education. None of those are the values of Hamas.

@stylinstainless

The ironic thing about that is that both the Torah and quo ran seem to cite the same things, Moses, Jesus (ok he is a prophet in the quo ran) etc,

So in that sense their god is the same entity

In fact doesn't the quo ran suggest there should be respect for other books, something to do with the constitution of Medina ?

@susiemagoo

LOL]

I remember when I worked at a school as I lunch time assistant, the kids used to say Miss to me, so my colleague suggested I responded by saying 'not the last time I looked'

Not sure if that would work in 2023, but humor can defuse a situation at times.

But yes, why does gender matter in a lot of professions, you hire the person with the best expertise , experience etc for the job, and it should not be about ticking boxes.

@ned @mw

Actions are going to have to speak louder than words,

Give it a few days and the body count in Palestine will reach the 1000s due to lack of water, food, medicine and power by which time it will be too late for many.

@susiemagoo

It will get to the point where no one dares to talk to people in case they unintentionally mis gender someome, get reported, photograpped or filmed and then have their image uploaded to sites like social media with a one sided story

We see a lot of Trial by social media that never seems to actually take in to account what actually happened as those people were never there in the first place.

People are going to just be too terrified to do anything like they are too terrified to challenge kids who are say smashing up a play park or causing other damage.

@stylinstainless

Agreed, Today there is a report on Aljazzera that a father and so n were murdered in the west bank by Isrealis as they took 4 other family members to a funeral.

So long as this sort of terrorism happens it will just strengthen support for Hamas and others.

@zleap @mw

Both the UN Human Rights chief and the EU Foreign Affairs chief condemned Israel's siege, saying that it breaks International Law.

@stylinstainless

If they did that, I wonder if the US would still stand by Israel or if the whole world would turn against Israel

There is no evidence as far as i know Iran is even behind this, sure they will support Hamas / Palestine but behind the events on Saturday what would they gain from that.

#Pakistan authorities’ threats to deport more than one million Afghans puts them at grave risk of being returned to persecution and other abuse, says Human Rights Watch. hrw.org/news/2023/10/12/pakist
