Something like this for a logo quiz

So similar to what was on the course I did, but focussing free / open source software and federated social media

So following on from my previous idea.
When I attended a online safety course, I was given an activity to identify various games, social media platforms from their logos e.g the usual suspects, plus games and stuff kids use.

I am trying to put something similar together that has logos of things like Linux distros (mint, debian), fediverse instance logos (mastodon, peertube, pleroma, pixelfed, software giimp,

It could be a good way to start a discussion and also if anyone here is teaching it is a good way to figure out what people know already.

Trying to promote Mastodon, and taking some inspiration from mainstream social media.

A lot of companies / businesses / people have something like

"find us on Facebook, then the Fb Logo we need something similar on here.

So rather than having Find us on Mastodon, perhaps we should use Locate is on Mastodon. followed by that users fed id
@user@name.social type thing.

We need to be similar but not the same if that makes sense.

@zleap feeling sorry for yourself is useless... change things, that's the only way to improve the world XD

everyone complains that the internet is shit.... how many of them are (for example) working for a decentralized internet, maybe NOT needing servers and "connection costs"... (i think none, or an irrelevant number). this is the problem 😀
@zleap you're right... now go explain it to everyone else and good luck XD

I wrote to Lidl Great Britain Ltd today to ask about the use of plastic to wrap cola cans and ask if they could switch over to cardboard or something more sustainable.

Small things, that people can do to hopefully make the world more single use plastic free.

Back at Trojans rookie camp yesterday, need to remember some measurements for Sunday 10 yards = 30 feet, so I can mark out a pitch with yard makers.

Not heard any more about organisations supporting mental health joining the Mastodon / peertube or the fediverse.

Maybe to get MH support you need to be on mainstream social media, which oddly is the cause of a lot of Mental health issues.

@jaywilliams @claudiom as this toot is boosted I'll explain my statement about rust. I have nothing about the language itself. It's just it has been adopted rather quickly in many fields without giving much time for non mainstream OS or architectures to do the porting work (requiring high skills), and this break many platforms because it's essential to have a working rust in 2021. It also requires a lot of memory for compilation and pulls many deps which is unmaintainable.

Looking forward to representing Small Tech (the exact opposite of Big Tech) and a view of human beings as *people* – not mere “consumers” – at the industry stage of the MediaTech Hub conference on Wednesday (I’ll be taking part virtually).
