If you're here on the Fediverse right now, you're probably experiencing shock.

You're coming to grips with ideas that were previously foreign to you: decentralization, federation, instances, etc.

This is intimidating -- probably even scary.

But while you might feel like a noob (and you are), you're also on the cutting edge of *the* biggest communications revolution in a generation!

@zleap

"I find your lack of faith in the government project disturbing". 🙂

@m8urnett

That explains why i have not seen any o ftheir content for a while, and this is actually more than welcome.

@thelinuxEXP it's pretty hilarious, I have to admit. I'm still banking on the total collapse of Twitter. Hopefully open source social media takes over at last. Love your Linux news by the way

Nite all, lets see how much more cool stuff happens tomorrow on the Fediverse.

@zleap er, no? they're a weird form of nuclear power that the navy put up the money to develop. apparently sodium is much better at whisking heat than water is and possibly you can also merge the nuclear fuel with it so you end up with a much safer reactor that doesn't create the same amount of waste.

the concept has been proven but nobody will allow or fund nuclear reactors that can't make bombs

Never thought Elon Musk would do so much for the adoption of a decentralised infrastructure…

Please Elon, can you buy Elsevier ?

Vaccines are truly one of the greatest public health achievements of our lifetimes. We continue to dismiss the significance of those intentionally misleading the public and lowering trust in vaccines, at our own global peril. No one wants 1940s rates of measles mumps and rubella. twitter.com/aetiology/status/1

Don’t just throw away that ‘junk’ in your grandparents’ basement – Redditor discovers legendary 1956 computer in grandparents’ basement

gadgeteer.co.za/wp-content/upl On Monday, a German Redditor named c-wizz announced that they had found a very rare 66-year-old Librascope LGP-30 computer (and several 1970 DEC PDP-8/e computers) in their grandparents’ basement. The LGP-30, first released in 1956, […]

"Musk’s new legal department is also apparently asking engineers to “self-certify” compliance with FTC rules and other privacy laws."

If you know people working at Twitter, you need to tell them to resign rather than do this. That company is asking you to absorb the institution's liability, and the muskrat will fuck you without hesitation if you allow the possibility of that happening to exist.

@zleap @derickflorian And if you’re obsessed with units (hey, I’m a metric expat living in a non-metric country), I recommend the siunitx package.

Yesterday, my local Mastodon admins called for people to donate voluntarily. So much money was pledged that today they posted a poll asking how many months of reserve funding they should keep on hand before donating the overage to charity.

Meanwhile, Elon's breaking Twitter because he desperately needs cash.

@JensHannemann do you use the same package for the diagrams you make?

That’s so cool @zleap! That is something will be useful when I do take my circuit analysis classes down the road.

My habit has been to regularly delete older tweets and to not use Twitter DMs for anything I wouldn’t say out loud, but many people default to trusting the platforms they use, which puts them in legitimate danger. When it comes to social media platforms, trust nothing. Remain mindful and protect yourself.

I am at a hair salon... the ladies here are talking about Mastodon.

Am ded.

New Mastodon Instance, Culture Jamming

Brands Town is a new culture jamming project I'm doing. It's meant to be weird and sarcastic and fun.

In a nutshell: ridicule the nature of brands on social media by creating our own fake brands. The sky is the limit on creativity. If it's funny to you, I'll probably think it's funny, too.

If you want to LARP as corporations and develop strange lore in our very own ARG, come on down.

Building a Sinclair ZX81 in 2022 with all new parts

gadgeteer.co.za/wp-content/upl Some take the emulation route, but others demand a solution that’s closer to the original hardware. Following the latter path, [iNimbleSloth] is answering the question as to whether it’s possible to build a Sinclair ZX81 […]

#FreeRadical blog: "Surviving and thriving through the 2022-11-05 meltdown"

Background After Elon Musk bought Twitter and started making a bizarre series of decisions about how to run it, people started logging into Mastodon to see what it’s all about. Lots of them. So, so many of them. In real numbers, Free Radical grew by 20% in the last week. Which is awesome, [...]

@zleap I love their guides. I starting using on my Calc tests in the online course. I’m currently reading through their LaTex in 30 min guide now. Hopefully this video can teach me about the platform itself!
