At Christmas, I found out a member of my family has an OnlyFans. Not only was I flattered she trusted me enough to tell me but I’m also happy to have had the opportunity to react with pure support, zero judgment and pride that she has found something finds empowering. #SexWorkIsRealWork

I think it’s important to repeat: you don't "have something to hide" when you put blinds on your windows or close the door when you're on the can or wear clothes.

Privacy isn't about having something to hide. It's not about keeping secrets. It's about you being the person who chooses what you reveal about yourself, and when, and to who, and the other word we have for that is "dignity". Your inherent dignity, as a human being.

Your privacy is the agency you have over your dignity.

Over 8,000 shoes that belonged to the youngest victims of Auschwitz need conservation.

Every person can support the preservation of those moving objects that testify about the tragic history of the camp. Help us save them for the future.

Happy Birthday to a brown-skinned Jewish refugee and migrant, a major prophet in Islam, a socialist, a champion of equality, who was arrested and abused by authorities, who preached for love and against exorbitant wealth, hatred, hunger, and homelessness. Merry Christmas, friends! ❤️

From #NPR:
Emmett Till and his mother were honored with the Congressional Gold Medal.

Till, 14, was tortured and murdered by two white men in MS during the summer of 1955. A white woman, the wife of one of the murderers, falsely accused him of flirting with her.

The medal will be on display at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. https://tinyl.io/7a4Q

Clickbait/buzz/shit posting is not #journalism.

A first step in the right direction could be to stop calling journalists those who write such poor content, even those who own a press card.

Are they unhappy for Mastodon not being a drop-in Twitter replacement? And they 'threaten' to leave? Good riddance. That should leave some room for more competent authors.

Horrendous story of how a scholar’s work was lifted from his blog and published by another scholar as her own. For context, the blogger is highly respected and has made numerous contributions to manuscropt studies via his blog, which is his main publication platform. Among the worrying elements of this story: that blogs are not real publications, so contents can be used without attribution. It happens more often.

There was so much good science and nature reporting this year. A few that stuck with me:
