Quite striking that the UK Tory government less than five years ago published this paragraph, which sets out an unimpeachable case for gender recognition reform along the lines that the Scottish Parliament just passed, yet today stands apparently implacably opposed to it.

Interesting historical note that ties in to Jaden's question about historical racism.
Back as recently as the 1970s, gun control was widely approved on the political left and right. The left approved because guns kill. The right approved because they associated crime with Black people, and regarded civilian guns as tools for crime (as well as hunting and target sports).
There was legislation that banned the least expensive handguns, nicknamed "Saturday night specials". I didn't understand it at the time, but it was meant to deny poor Black people guns.
Facing declining sales after the Vietnam War ended, the gun industry pushed a change of philosophy, however: people should respond to fear of crime by buying guns, not by keeping criminals from buying guns.
The right bought into their pitch, and their crowning success was the _Heller_ abomination.
(And yes, Russia helped the NRA.)

This image shows a spectacular view of the orange and pink clouds that make up the remains of a massive star after its explosive death, in the case of the Vela Supernova Remnant. It is located in the southern constellation of Vela and is located at a distance of about 800 light years from Earth. The explosion took place between 11,000 and 12,300 years ago and witnessed a pulsar called.....

“We had central heating and hot water. They didn’t always work that well but it was way more than what most people had — Americans were told that because of the advantageous English climate you didn’t need heating or refrigeration!”—Joan Steitz, RNA pioneer, discovered the spliceosome https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_A._Steitz and here commenting on UK housing in the late 1960’s.

The Galactic Milky way arches over the Aurora Australis and Akaroa lighthouse. The winding path and the light central, the arch in the sea, the slopes and curves and the light from tens of thousands of years ago in the sky. Every picture tells a story, this one is all about the night sky and the absolute joy it can bring

"Globus utilizaba complejos trenes de engranajes accionados por solenoides para mover el globo.
El globo utiliza un ingenioso mecanismo para girar en dos dimensiones. La rotación a lo largo del eje de puntos traza la órbita de 51,8°."

Data liberation is the act of reconquering data held hostage by big tech. By copying them, reprocessing them, and making them accessible through the #fediverse. This is aimed at breaking their monopoly, and is an example of adversarial #interoperability.
I'm looking for help: we don't have a development team yet, but you can test a working prototype.
If anyone feel to contribute, in any capacity and skills, please reach out or spread the word!
