Exciting session at #HEAD20 on the brightest gamma-ray burst of all time, GRB221001A. Dust echos allowed IXPE to constrain both prompt and afterglow polarization. Prompt polarization results from INTEGRAL also expected.

It appears just like Putin, Netanyahu interfered in the 2016 US Elections.

This is a bombshell report. And it does not portend well for the 2024 elections, unless Netanyahu is confronted.

This is an amazing chart from the International Monetary Fund. If we stopped subsidizing fossil fuels, we would come very close to meeting our international climate targets. You can support capitalism or the fossil industry, but not both.

The James Webb Space Telescope can look for atmospheres around distant exoplanets. What a 🤯 instrument. Didn't find any atmosphere around the first planet it studied, but it will study many others.

@zleap @clarebee they're only a good idea if you want to take legislative powers away from democratically elected local government and replace it with corporations who are responsible only to their shareholders & business partners. Or maybe if you want to lower your tax base and encourage smuggling.
Otherwise they're a really shit idea for everybody but those who get the contracts.

Douglas Adams wrote, 'The answer to everything was 42.
Does he mean that the answer to everything is rainbows?
Rainbows arc at 42 degrees. The prettiest natural phenomena ever, it make me so happy to see them.

Btw, when you sometimes see two rainbows together, the band that separates them, is called the Alexander band. Also, the secondary rainbow's colours are always inverted.

Gov't awards contract for Thames Estuary "freeport" to Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem's DP World, that last year illegally sacked 800 P&O workers by video call & replaced them with cheap labour at £4/hr.

- Sacked British workers & broke employment laws
- Made record profits, up 35% to £1.524 billion
- Failed to repay £11million of taxpayer money given to them for Covid furlough scheme

"Freeports" are going to be an absolute shit-show, aren't they.

Would building a Dyson sphere be worth it? We ran the numbers.

We managed to simulate scattering patterns at very high resolution using a modified 3D Fourier Transform. This work could impact small and wide-angle X-ray scattering, as well as PDF analysis! Check out our demonstration here:

@zleap I wouldn't even be confident that that would change anything.

BREAKING: A mass shooting in Covenant school in Nashville, TN has left at least 3 dead, 4 including the terrorist.

In 2023 this is the 129th mass shooting, the 13th mass murder, & total YTD gun death count is 9900. Its March 27th—only the 86th day of the year.

We don't have to live like this.
