Apparently, the US has no uranium enrichment facilities, thus, each year we pay Russia $1 billion to fuel our nuclear reactors. This is insane! While global trade is often a good thing, a nation should never rely on importing strategic goods that it could produce domestically -- even if those goods are more cheaply purchased abroad.

In this case, the foolishness is made worse by the fact that our nuclear fuel purchases support a criminal state.

That's right as many cultures say (sadly too many say this) "never forget"

Speaking of Republicans having meetings....

People of #Frome, it is finally time for a by-election. I know it felt like Warburton was going to camp out in office until we all expired of old age, but he has finally quit after all. It seems like there is some chance we will one day be able to email our MP again and not receive a response full of thesaurus droppings from Warble's wife.

“this page works better in our app” ok and whose fault is that

⚠️🇷🇺Russian oligarch proves allegiance to Putin by blocking funds. The former owner of Chelsea, Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, refuses to sign an agreement on the transfer of funds from the sale of the football club to Ukraine. It is about £2.3 billion. Abramovich wants part of the money to go to the victims from Russia, but the British government and the European Commission are against it. #Ukraine #NATO #Press #News #RussiaUkraineWar #9yearsOfWarInUkraine

@zleap That is exactly how it struck me. What kind of parents would stage a hate gay people rally and purposefully do it in front of children? It is beyond my understanding.

Facebook has platformed multiple genocides & continues to foster private terror groups

of course meta/facebook/zuckerberg will use any new platform to continue to commit & allow harm

That's what they do

Holy shit, #Scotland in nose bleed territory. Top of the group with nine points after three played. Mental stuff.

Mayor Amer Ghalib is America’s first Yemeni mayor

Hamtramck, Michigan also has a Muslim majority city council

Yay diversity right?

Mayor Ghalib is quoted saying he tries to govern fairly for everyone

…but

He said LGBTQ+ supporters are “forcing their agendas on others”

The Muslim city council added the pride flag clashes with the beliefs of members of their faith

And the city has now banned Pride flags on public property

*A* religion isn’t the problem

All religions are the problem.

When exactly have these fucking assholes at Soundcloud decided to trigger a login-wall when you want to go a different section of a track and how can I get rid of it without signing up to get a basic feature back?

This just in: Mastodon continues to fail at being the thing it wasn't trying to be in the first place

IDK why this is burning a hole in my brain right now but I gotta get it out...

Unisex bathrooms do NOT exist so that trans and non-binary people have a place to pee. They exist so that people with public bathroom anxiety have a place to pee. This is important for two reasons:

They're not just for trans people. They're also for people with social anxiety, parents with small children of the opposite gender, and basically anyone else who wants a bit of extra privacy. Having them available is good for EVERYBODY.
Trans people can pee wherever the fuck they want. If they're still early and not out and want to use the AGAB bathroom to avoid suspicion, that's fine. If they want to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity, that's fine. If you're so scared of a peeing trans person that you don't want to be in the same room with them, then YOU can use the unisex restroom.

15 years ago today, we got our wedding license. Here is a photo of me and Bradder from that happy day, smiling and grateful for recognition of our love.

Libraries are civic marvels.

Besides lending books and providing internet access, the Chicago Public Library lets you check out fishing poles, telescopes, cameras, knitting supplies, sewing machines, puzzles, tools, cooking equipment, a (model) human skull, sheet music, instruments, toys, museum passes, laptops, wifi hotspots, craft kits, seeds.

You can book meeting rooms or 3D printers. Some branches have teachers on site for homework help. Story time for kids, literacy programs for adults.

Hi all. I was on kbin.social and decided to create kbin.social/m/WhatsThisBug and then posted a picture because I wanted an insect ID and didn't want to go back to Reddit. #Reddit #WhatsThisBug Boosts appreciated.

Reddit's CEO keeps making inapt, inept, and ignorant analogies to describe its users -- especially the moderators, volunteers who have spent countless hours making the site's communities so valuable.

Here's an accurate analogy: Reddit regards these people as replaceable cogs in a machine owned and absolutely controlled by the company.

I won't use Reddit again unless the top management, and its attitudes, are replaced -- with a genuine community focus.

Meanwhile, I'm finding alternatives.
