Just as I’m finding a majority of people 18-29 get their news from TikTok…

That TikTok is making sympathy for Osama bin Laden trend

Even Arafat disavowed bin Laden. That man is garbage and the ocean is still mad at us for throwing our trash there

TikTok is cancer.

Remember, the far right only wants “free speech” so they can seize power — and then abolish free speech for anyone but themselves.

They finally got me, too. Yesterday, after 5.5 years at Skillshare, I was laid off along with @ramsey and 21 others.

That means I'm immediately available for work. I am looking for a staff/principal software engineer role working on a foundations/platform team. I love modernising legacy applications and mentoring other engineers.

I'm based in the UK but happy to work for a company anywhere in the world - contract or perm. So let's chat. :)

@MsMerope 7. As growing food becomes harder and harder, found a company which instead uses vats of algae to produce protein and nutriets. Package those into biscuits/wafers which will feed the population of the world. Add variety with different kinds... "Blue" "Red" and "Green" varieties. Make sure your name invokes current foods, i.e. "Soy". Collect $$$ as the world becomes dependent on your food for sustaining life.
8. Develop an automated, AI-powered, food-gathering robot which helps collect food from the sea and stores it into deep freeze. It should target plankton, fish, sea greens, and protein from the sea.

@scientist @zleap I'd argue that the fundamental mechanics of capitalism are fundamentally incompatible with democracy and lead to an economic system that works in the interest of the capital owning minority.

A truly democratic system cannot be based on capitalism because democracy necessitates collective ownership of resources and the means of production.

There are two interesting planetary transits taking place today. Mars will make a quincunx to the north node at 1:37 PM EST. Later on, the sun will make a quincunx to the north node at 11:25 PM EST. Adjust the timing to your local time zone.

If you are a mathematician and you are reading this (and you're interested in responding), can you tell me a little bit about the maths you do, in a way that a ten year old could understand? If not, what age/level of mathematical understanding do you think someone would need in order to get a sense of what you do?

Amnesty International investigated five instances of IDF attacks on civilians, which they note barely scratches the surface of the total cases. They found the mass murder of entire families, absent or unclear evacuation orders, attacks against evacuation sites, and an absence of any evidence from the IDF that these attacks had any military value, much less proportional value.

Amnesty International further notes that the leaflets the IDF dropped on Gaza included the following warning:

“…anyone who chooses not to leave from the north of the [Gaza] Strip to south of Wadi Gaza may be determined an accomplice in a terrorist organization.”

Amnesty International points out that these leaflets could not be considered effective warning and “may amount to the war crime of collective punishment for holding hundreds of thousands of civilians responsible for acts they did not commit, based solely on the fact that they are staying in their homes when they have nowhere safe to go amid a relentless campaign of Israeli bombardment across the entire Gaza Strip.”

Most plastic goes into landfills — or worse, into the environment. One big reason for these dismal numbers: Plastics are actually quite hard to recycle.

Lawsuits are fine, but the best way to stop Meta is for us to collectively stop using their products.

Iran now has >20x as much enriched uranium than it did when Trump cancelled the JCPOA. This outcome is 100% Trump's fault, and the whole Republican party loudly cheered him along as he did it, too, and still believe he was right to help Iran expand its nuclear capabilities in exchange for nothing.

So Rishi sunak is willing to rip up international law, to stop the boats, but not use international law to target traffikers which will probably stop the boats or at least stop people taking the crossing, at great risks.

We need to change stragegy.

"The Fifth National Climate Assessment, or NCA, is a peer-reviewed collaboration by more than 800 scientists from 14 federal agencies, universities and research institutions."

It has a lot of bad news - and a bit of optimism - for the most climate-denying nation on the planet. Buckle up North America because no where will be immune to the present and future effects of climate change.
