@tommi posed an idea for a #Fediverse #Movie database in #Lemmy
And also on #FediverseTown
https://fediverse.town/t/fediverse-platform-for-movies/344
Candidate existing platforms to build from are @bookwyrm and @inventaire
But why fork, and create separate independent projects? Imho it would be great if there was a generic Fediverse Directory platform, with which you can create collections of any type of item, be they #Books or #Movies or what-have-you.
With plugins for templates + #UI widgets.

Yeah, I would say it depends to a large degree on the area of study. I definitely wouldn't entrust my health to a doctor who didn't have a degree in medicine, but if we're talking about something like programming, I don't think it makes a difference if you went to college or were self-taught.

NASA’s Parker Solar Probe captured stunning views of Venus during its close flyby of the planet in July 2020. The prominent dark feature in the center of the image is Aphrodite Terra, the largest highland region on the Venusian surface.

@zleap this is our first ever game jam. We posted announcements twice before it started and once during, on all our platforms
It's been a wide success though, so we may see one next year too!

After six days of deployments since launch, the James Webb Space Telescope is ready for a critical three days of work to open the mission's sunshield and tension all five of its ultra-thin layers, made of kapton with aluminum and silicon coatings. https://spaceflightnow.com/2021/12/30/webb-ready-for-critical-work-to-open-sunshield/ https://twitter.com/SpaceflightNow/status/1476933685760958467/video/1

Every particle in the Standard Model is either a fermion or a boson. Quantum rules govern how these particles occupy space. Fermions, which cannot occupy the same space, are matter particles, while bosons, which can overlap, are force particles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Unl1jXFnzgo https://twitter.com/QuantaMagazine/status/1476935945609961476/video/1

"...In the 1950s.... the American Can Company, Owens-Illinois Glass Company, Coca-Cola, and the Dixie Cup company got together to design a solution to the growing pressure to regulate disposable packaging. They knew the issue of litter would not go away and was increasingly unpopular with the public, but disposable packaging was incredibly profitable. They needed a way to avoid regulation that might limit the use of disposables, and their solution was cunning.
They founded a nonprofit called Keep America Beautiful and poured significant amounts of money into environmental awareness campaigns. This helped them look good, but the real genius was in the message behind the campaigns - that litter on the streets had nothing to do with the producers, but was the fault of the person who dropped it - the litterbug. Keep America Beautiful managed to shift the entire debate around Americas garbage and litter problems away from the industry and on to consumers, and the strategy has been copied to time and time again since."
