We never use self-checkout. Pretty much avoid it like a plague, and we probably would not shop a store without human cashiers.

My first and second attempts at a Milky Way photo while camping last week in a Bortle Class 3 area.
The first one is OK-ish, 2nd is the same as the first with extra processing. The third definitely is overprocessed. I didn't expose to the right.
I have some tips to try for my next attempt, including using a higher ISO and shorter exposure, turning on Long Exposure Noise Reduction, and using a light pollution cut filter if I need it.

Renewables are better: A common confusion is that to decarbonize, the world will need to produce the equivalent of coal, oil & gas in the form of low-carbon energy.
That's not true.
Most fossil energy gets wasted. In the US, just one-third gets turned into useful services. The rest is wasted as heat.

@flexghost TBH in modern year groups we now call this year 12/13 (so its very similar to USA, with a slight offset by a year) but those who don't have kids and/or are older often get confused with the year groups (they changed in the 1990s).
This trend is less prevalent in Britain, there has been a rightward shift amongst young lads and its worse than the early 90s but not as bad as it was in the mid-late 80s when I was in high school (lads were either hard left or hard right)
Within the context of the oil and gas companies' disinformation campaigns (forms of greenwashing, gaslighting, etc), we should try to educate the public that the oil and gas companies can't be trusted (at all).
Opt-in search of the Fediverse was just rolled out. Here it is:
Search has traditionally been very controversial on the Fediverse, but let's see how opt-in works.
Right now, this is a proof-of-concept and very bare bones -- but we'll see if it's embraced by everyone.
