I don’t expect better from the #Tories, to be honest, but I do of #Labour… how can folk ever consider voting Labour when its leaders have this kind of attitude?
“There isn’t even the pretence that a Palestinian life has equal worth to an Israeli or British civilian. But their lives do matter, and those who condemn children to perish under rubble should be damned for ever.”

UK politicians have got it wrong on the Israel-Hamas war. We must hold them to account

Big thank-you to Linux Format magazine for supporting the Domesday86 project - nice to see some love for preservation of important UK history - You can read all about my pet-project in issue 308; you can even pick up a physical copy in Pressbyrån in Sweden shortly (page 70 😁 )

The Govt is to ban "laughing gas", nitrous oxide, from next month - and I would say, it's about time, considering the damage it's doing to young people. (Those who use it legitimally, like hospitals, will still be able to obtain it.)

“If there is not immediate intervention, thousands of Gazans will die of infections, malnutrition, and dehydration, in addition to the bombardment.

Creating a public health crisis is no way to hold people’s grief or pursue peace. We need a cease-fire now.”

No, I don't think we live in a functioning democracy. I thought I made that clear. Apologies if I didn't.

This is good news from Aljazeera

Cancellation of Jordan summit ‘major embarrassment’ to the US

It’s a major blowback to the United States, and a major embarrassment.

Since the beginning of this whole affair, the US has assigned itself as the regional cop, the regional sheriff… defending Israel against any repercussions from the region.

But the one thing the American president cannot do is control Arab public opinion, and clearly the Arab and Palestinian public opinion is on fire.

I agree with this, I think the Arab world is just sick of the USA now.

I've never seen so much controversy on soc media over a "conflict" (Hamas/Israel) before

It's fine to have an opinion...but they're OPINIONS.

I'm seeing so many replies all over the place from so many people who think they "know" what's going on over there. Nobody knows. We only know what's being reported (badly, inaccurately, &/or inconsistently).

Can we stop insisting that what we think is how everyone should think?

I won't even opine on the war. Not touching it w/ a 10-ft keyboard

Ok update from Aljazeera

Israeli officials delete video on posts claiming Palestinians responsible for hospital strike

Social media accounts belonging to the State of Israel and the Israeli ambassador to the US both appear to have deleted a video on posts claiming that a rocket fired from within Gaza caused the deadly explosion at al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City.

The plot clearly thickens as they say

Just to summarize: Hamas' own statements, video evidence from multiple sources, the timeline, and past experience with Hamas(/IPJ)'s rockets all point to this being a misfired rocket sent from within Gaza. That might change if more evidence emerges, but that's certainly what it looks like right now. #Israel #Gaza

I’m not sure any diety could sort out what’s happening in the Middle East at this point.

An Israeli airstrike on a hospital in Gaza has resulted in at least 500 casualties

irishtimes.com/world/middle-ea

More than 1,000 children have reportedly been killed in 11 days of airstrikes on Gaza – one child every 15 minutes – with children making up a third of total fatalities in Gaza.

This is not war. This is slaughter. This is barbarism. Nothing justifies this.

And yet the West watches—cheers with blood lust, even—as Israel commits genocide.

Records unearthed by a University of Virginia professor shed new light on states’ vocal opposition in the 1950s to tribes claiming their share of the river.

Today, many are still fighting to secure #water.

@zleap Sadly too many Americans elected a key bunch of performance artist grifter narcissistic types who seem to not be able to grow up, and too many of the ones who might have been are cowed and afraid to stand up.
