A game of secrets and lies. ‘Bloody Orkney’ is a fast-paced thriller set in Scotland, mainly in Orkney, during World War Two. It uses many real settings, transported eight decades back in time.

The huge naval base at Lyness on the island of Hoy plays an important part in the book. This photograph shows some of what remains today. In the background is what in 1942 was one of the most important naval anchorages in the world, Scapa Flow.

These people talkin' 'bout how very very ancient slavery was in the US.

I am 63, and am, patently, and against my better judgement, still alive.

I knew a man whose parents were African-American slaves in the United States.

So, from his parent, to him, to me, to you, that's not ancient history, my sister. That's three degrees of difference. That's your great-grandma, that's your congressperson or your senator, that's damned close to being that movie star you're so attached to.

International Crime Court orders Israel to stop their genocide.

The most depressing part was watching way too many people and ex-friends defend the genocide and split hairs over human suffering.

Now the ICJ has given it's provisional ruling on Israael, will the ICC hurry up with its action against many Israeli's committing and inciting war crimes?
