@pthenq1 @NurseRatched it is a good question but often drastically exaggerated in terms of how much change it would make as it makes good headlines. Also, I think his point is coming more from a "Big-O" point of view. Meaning, if currently the spending factor of our current government is O(2^n) for example (hypothetical), where this represents the amount of tax money spent as a function of, say, number of government officials then it doesn't make much sense to complain because of a small number of people, say, a 200b factor to account for the few billionaires in society multiplied by how much tax they pay on average + 150,000,000p to account for the number of "average" tax paying normal citizens then we get that 2^n> 200b + 150,000,000p for values n=50, b=1,000,000,000 , p= 25,000 so even if the billionaires pay their fare share the government spending would still outpace it

Of course, this is a hypothetical scenario there are many simplifications and variables not taken into account. But ultimately the point is to showcase that the more fundamental question is how to lower the spending rate of government compared to the tax on citizens.

Is it bad that I'm kinda into the whole metaverse idea? Like, I love the idea of being able to truly blend the physical world with the digital and don't necessarily hate it just because FB are the ones pushing for it. If it ends up being as #secure #private #decentralized and #open as they are currently claiming then what is the issue? Am I supposed to hate a cool concept just because of who came up with it? Now if they end up selling people's data to make profits of course I'd be pissed but currently they're claiming this won't be the case. Alternatively, can we make a #foss #metafediverse? Where would we start? Mozzila Hubs?

Applied to a job and got rejected the next day without explanation and without having answered any questions. Literally just submitted my CV which shows relevant qualifications+ experience. This feels odd.

The extreme #covid mandates in the Baltic countries are no longer about protecting people but rather about bringing out the worst in humanity and subjugating people to discriminatory practices by creating a two tier society of the 'good' and the 'bad' when there is no data to support said practices.

This makes me sad. I think this situation will go in the history books for sure as an example about how we don't learn from history. In their case it's worse than most other countries since they had crazy levels of authoritarianism until the 90s when Soviet union left. So, you'd think they'd be more anti-authoritarian, right?
