@moshtodon how about because it's hard to get all of the nutrients you need consistently when you didn't grow up vegan.

Also, even when you start a vegan diet and have all the bases covered as far as nutrition, prevailing food cultures around a lot of people presuppose that people eat meat, let alone the other animal products non-vegans mostly don't even think about as being prohibited for vegans (e.g., honey, gelatin). Like, I'm not even vegan, I'm pescetarian, but I can't eat most of the meals my mother would make for us. Giving that kind of thing up isn't something everyone is going to be square with.

@2ck it's not hard at all, just eat colorfully. People tend to assume that vegans are the most healthy people on the world or the least. It basically depends on you and how you eat. Don't eat just oreos but don't overthink it either.

First of all, you can start by going vegan except for these products and secondly, there are vegan version of them. Lastly:

@moshtodon Look, I appreciate what you're saying, but my point is that food is intertwined in people's lives and relationships, so changing to a more restrictive diet means changing relationships around you. And don't tell me something like "Oh, it's not that bad" that's a judgment people make for themselves and to a *lot* of people, it's not worth the trade-off.
Regarding your last point, I think you are implying that taking the life of an animal to eat it's flesh is morally wrong? I genuinely don't understand what you're getting at. I think it's wasteful to kill an animal and not make use of it's body, but that isn't what we're talking about...

@2ck maybe we can stop breeding animals in the first place so they don't end up being killed. These industries work with supply and demand so it's up to us to decide who we want to support and it's not like we have to give up taste or anything, we can veganize almost everything nowadays.
