npr’s headline “how to think about covid now” story tonight was pretty dismal. no mention of long covid or sequelae prevention *at all* and new studies on those topics may as well not exist. we were told to fend for ourselves as individuals and if we’re “young and healthy” to act like it’s an ordinary cold and flu season where you will get sick and that’s fine
friends no wonder we feel insane
@seachanger NPR lost credibility when it pumped up Dr. Wen saying masks were stupid right before a huge wave of COVID killed a few hundred thousand people in 2021. I was sitting in a liquor store parking lot when they ran the story, having just finished a shift caring for very ill COVID patients. It was infuriating.
Thank you for saying that! I've mentioned multiple times that I had multiple family members decide *that* was the moment to ditch all precautions, because NPR wouldn't lie to them. One died from that advice.
@BE @mcnado @seachanger It is such a strange moment, with people living in vastly different realities. Someone recently told me she was "very much aware" that Covid is finished.
