weird personality quirk about myself I have realized: on digital thermostats, I strongly prefer even numbers, to the point that odd ones make me uncomfortable. (72 or 70 F, but not 71 or 73 or 75). Same thing with digital loudness settings on stereos.

You learned your times tables in school - we all did. Most of those answers are even. So - when doing a multiplication problem, an even number was associated with a good outcome most of the time. Even numbers are also often easier to work with in general.
That's the theory anyway.
