augh, freaking delivery drivers: have been anticipating new phone all week, they show up well ahead of schedule the one time all day I have been in the restroom, ring doorbell and wait 10 seconds, and by the time I get to the front door they've left and now I'm out of luck until Monday. ಠ_ಠ Apparently zero way to redirect, chase down the truck, visit the local warehouse, etc. So frustrating.

tracking websites are definitely a double-edged sword, whether the package arrives sooner or later than indicated. man, this is annoying. I was planning to spend a chunk of time this weekend transferring my previous phone to my wife, and hers to one of my kids, while I had spare time .... now I have to try to squeeze that in on Monday. Absolute worst delivery timing; couldn't they just send a text when they are on the way to the house? Even Domino's can manage that ...

Remember my 4se? Weeks late, claimed delivered - and ended up *in the middle of my driveway*? I vowed never to have a phone delivered to my home again. I find that "I'll come pick it up from my local apple store when it is ready" is most reliable and least frustrating.

@Biggles I’m in a hurry this time - want it before upcoming travel

@darkuncle

Sure. Point is - pick it up from the store. Home delivery adds what turns out to be a very random, unreliable third party to the equation. My home delivery was weeks late. How late will yours be?

@Biggles tomorrow or Monday - I can see where it is, they just happened to arrive when I couldn’t get to the door.

@darkuncle

Heh. Yeah that's what they told me too. For weeks it was "should be there in the next 48 hours". Apple said FedEx had it, FedEx said Apple still did. And it ended up *in the middle of my driveway*. Where the cars drive. Not the mailbox, not the porch. Supposed to be signed for. Something went drastically wrong.

For my last two major Apple purchases - did pickup at the store. That's been flawless.

You're still too young to have had the optimism crushed out of you. Must be nice.

@Biggles just going on my own experience with phone purchases, which so far has been pretty universally flawless with the home delivery (I did get one at a UPS local delivery center during COVID, same circumstances as now, but it was still an easy fix).
