This came across my newsfeed just now and I quote from the Wall Street Journal:

"Israel-Hamas War Puts Palestinians Back on Arab World's Agenda

Israel’s fierce response to Hamas’s cross-border assault has reinvigorated support for Palestinians in the Arab world and stirred popular anger—not just at Israel and the U.S., but also at Arab governments. "

^^ This presents an argument that Hamas already won the war. The main Hamas objective was to put the kibosh on the Abraham Accord, which caused Arab states to basically throw Palestine under the bus.

Anybody throwing Palestine under the bus is gonna need a bigger bus.

Further, Trump was cheering on Hamas, so that means that Trump was celebrating the kiboshing of his one major accomplishment while in office.

Hezbollah has joined the fray and that's not being reported by anybody but Israel's i24News. Israel is also attacking Syria and Lebanon but only i24News is talking about that.

i24News has been saying that Lebanon has been launching rockets at Israel but that's a crazy thing for a nation with a natural gas treaty with Israel to be doing. This is another thing that's making no sense.

@ClaraListensprechen4

There are a bunch of things not making sense to me.

I have seen reports that rockets are being launched into Israel from Lebanon, that Israel is doing the same back at Lebanon, that the US is blowing up munitions sites in Syria.

At least four countries are at war and the children are the ones suffering.

@Mary625 @ClaraListensprechen4

Still trying to figure out how firing missiles into Israel and killing civilians is wrong, but firing rockets into Gaza and killing civilians is not, per Israel, equally wrong.

I guess I just don't get 'defence'.

@Edelruth @Mary625

A lot of people don't--and they don't get why the US approves and sends in more assistance to Israel.

What I've been able to discern is that with Hamas being the government and even the hospitals being government institutions, they're military targets that Hamas put in harm's way, so the onus for civilian deaths is on Hamas, who is using civilian Palestinian death images to uproot the Abraham Accord because nobody is going to see the set-up beyond the images.

Judging from what I quoted from the WSJ, nobody has.

But the lack of credibility of the Netanyahu government also plays into this even though there were settler thugs well before Netanyahu's second stint. They just got more brazen with Netanyahu and after they raided the Al Aqsa Mosque hunting for Hamas, well, we all know how bogus THAT was.

Nobody's got any shred of credibility on any side of this thing.

@ClaraListensprechen4 @Edelruth @Mary625 only problem is, so far at least, Israel seem to unable to backup this narrative it managed to propagate so successfully via Western media. Even the BBC begins to question IDF spox reports. Most Israelis know the spox is unreliable, but Western media liked to pretend this far it’s a source they can quote directly instead of doing their work. It might be changing now.

This is threaded collection of pieces of reporting showing IDF is unable to support its claims, which even Israel politicians are now contradicting.

@oatmeal @ClaraListensprechen4 @Edelruth

Thank you. I've bookmarked. I agree things seem to be changing. For the first time in western media today I heard them calling for a neutral third party to verify all these claims by Israel that obviously aren't true. Like giving safe passage to innocent civilians when they're told to move in 30 minutes.

@Mary625 that’s interesting… can you share a source?

@oatmeal

This is not exactly what I saw but it's close. I watched an exchange on CNN between Fredricka Whitfield and some talking head about a third party. It was about an hour before I replied to your post.

Saw a similar exchange between her and Robert Baer about 20 minutes ago talking about Israeli war crimes. First time I'm hearing this. Baer actually said he doesn't believe Israel has proof of Hamas under the hospital

@Mary625 @oatmeal

Yes, CNN's reporting on the spot as an IDF imbed has been remarkable, which is why I see some truth in some of Israel's claims, but Israel exaggerates and lies about stuff as bad as Hamas does....so....the question I have now is What constitutes a neutral 3rd party?

Usually it would be UN observers but Israel has long claimed that the UN is biased against it and is therefore not a neutral party.

The next question is who would be more neutral than the UN? Lotsa luck finding one. The only party Israel would accept is someone who buys the Herzlist embellished view of "Israel has a right to exist" as the nation it has become today under the hegemony of extremist ultraorthodoxy.

@ClaraListensprechen4 @oatmeal

Been wondering that myself, who would be accepted as neutral.

The more I see, the less I believe Israel's claims. But let's just pretend for one second everything they say is true. Does not make their genocide any less criminal and horrific. No doubt Hamas is lying about almost everything. Nothing could change what they have done and are doing is criminal and horrific. But neither side lying or telling truth changes the genocide being committed

@Mary625 @oatmeal
Amen and a half to that. While it may be true that Hamas hides behind children in hopes to not get shelled, Israeli settlers with the approval of Israel's government shows that "from the river to the sea" describes Israeli ambitions.
