Angry about Americans and Date Formats
@kensanata @tsturm Let's be a bit philosophical about all this.
The whole outrage stems from our growing(?) intolerance of uncertainty and the resulting need for precision in pieces of information such as dates.
Look at it this way: 300 years ago when regular blokes agreed on a meeting, they set a day (like e.g., St. John, or so) and the approximate position of the sun (noon, dawn, etc.). Some further 500 years back, people agreed to meet in the spring somewhere around where river X joins river Y. It worked. Mostly.
My point is this: much coarser levels of precision worked for humankind for millennia, so take it from the positive side: historically speaking, date precision sometime between June or November used to be good enough for most human purposes, so what are we complaining about? Let the uncertainty creep back into your life again!
