@gerrymcgovern Typical of mainstream media to frame this as an all or nothing proposition, when even the interviews and statistics suggest much more nuance. Much more about using technology in a healthier more socially aware manner. Perhaps not a message that NYT wants to convey?

@Gaythia Good point. It's not no technology but less technology more wisely applied. The technology industry right now is out of control and power mad. Technology created the climate crisis and we must radically slow down its growth.

Certainly the advent of fossil fuel use and the industrial revolution gave rise to soaring climatic impacts, but every technical advance by humans has driven serious ecosystem impacts. There are no mastodons, and the Fertile Crescent isn't very fertile anymore.
