Norfolk Southern has a history of lobbying against safety regulations. Two years ago the union said that they were understaffed, that "just in time" BS was dangerous. And now an Ohio town is contaminated with toxic gas.

@futurebird The derailment was semi-local to me, and *I've* barely heard about it! I've had to go out of my way to find out anything about it.

@queerlyso @futurebird The big question about "semi-local" would be upwind or downwind? When material goes up in a big plume, where it ends up descending back to the ground can be some distance away, and dependent on other conditions like rainfall. wfmj.com/story/48355825/epa-re
