It's weird watching people gas up BSky over and over again like "oh it's just like old Twitter!" "oh it's so much better on BSky growing my audience is so much easier" and always it's by people who already had like double digit thousands of followers on Twitter.

Meanwhile time and time again I keep finding that I have a MUCH wider reach on Mastodon. I was able to grow a larger following faster, and my posts consistently reach people who aren't already following me (whereas on BSky it has a stronger tendency to stay within my existing circle, which is just not fucking useful for growth)

@glairedaggers tbh I've barely managed to crack 600 followers on bsky despite having 13k on twitter. Can't get anyone to share my posts for love nor money

Meanwhile on mastodon I'm approaching 8k and the engagement is like 5x better than I had on twitter

@eniko @glairedaggers same experience but with slightly smaller numbers.

Bsky is fine but it feels like it's for-influencers-by-influencers. My TL is constant shouty politics and clout/thrstposting. Tell me about the cute thing your dog did or the interesting project you're working on, dammit.
