Mastodon meta / why I'm not following you
I've been using mastodon with some regularity since 2017. The vibe this week has changed to early Twitter, which is fine, *for now*. I stopped engaging with the Other Place for a reason. Don't bring it back.
I'm protecting my experience by turning off boosts and judiciously thinking about who I choose to follow. I'm cutting out a lot of tech tooters in favour of more art, indie projects etc. Also unfollowing cross-posters to/from the Other Place.

@phae Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't your second paragraph kind of demonstrating the point? Yes, some instances will end up as Hellsite 2.0, but others will defederate from them and provide more reclusive and serene spaces.
That's my favorite part of this system... how diverse and decentralized it is, and how adaptable that makes it for those who need more protection / safer spaces.
