Observation from today’s @osi event in DC: the actual servants of American democracy are highly scrutinized and rule-bound, while many people talking about “democratization” of tech mean distributed *and unaccountable* technical power.

@luis_in_brief "Democratization" means giving the power to the people, the general public. Who, even in American democracy, have no accountability for their actions of voting.
As long as they're using the term to mean "anyone can wield it", that seems consistent with the proper use of the term to me.
