It amazes me the hubris in some men. An insurance company employee has screwed up *every* step in the negotiation, settlement, and now payment process for a case I have. Not once has he apologized for any of it, even though it means my client has to wait for their money longer than agreed to. In fact, he has been smug throughout. The only reason anything has gotten done has been the supervisor stepping in. Guy should be fired but I'm 99.99% sure that won't happen.
@LeslieBurns This is really surprising to me. I thought that's what insurance companies intentionally looked for in their hiring. I have yet to find one that isn't doing their abject best to screw me over.
"even though it means my client has to wait for their money longer than agreed to."
His employer thinks he's ace.
@Axomamma @LouisIngenthron I disagree. They need to keep face to get new customers. What they want are strong negotiators but not people who will tarnish the brand.
@LeslieBurns @Axomamma Wait, what? Which insurance company still has a positive brand?
Insurance is required by law in most places, the industry is so highly consolidated that consumers don't really have much of a choice, and the entry barrier for upstart businesses is insane. That's a breeding ground for corporate stagnation. They don't have to please you because they know that there are only two other companies that might carry you, and those are just as bad.
@LeslieBurns @Axomamma Fair, but what I said still applies. How many other options do you have? How much of a pain in the ass would it be to switch?
They know this. They know they can treat you badly, to a point, because the friction will keep you there regardless.
@LeslieBurns @Axomamma Then substitute "your client" for "you" in my previous post. The point still stands.
Actually, the fact that your client had to call an attorney to get what they were owed by their insurance company *bolsters* my point.
@LouisIngenthron @Axomamma NOT my client’s INSURER, my client had a claim against the insurance company’s insrued.
Jesus, you can’t even mansplain correctly.
@LouisIngenthron @Axomamma Oh, and blockity block block.
@LeslieBurns @Axomamma Yeah, congratulations, you caught me messing up a detail in a tangent unrelated to my initial point.
And you can fuck right off with the "mansplaining". I was discussing the ethics of insurance companies with you as equals, but if you want to play the victim instead, you go right on ahead and have fun with that.
@LouisIngenthron @Axomamma You are implying it is my insurer. I’m an attorney with a client who has a claim against their insured.
