The tagline “Master AI before it masters you” is deeply fucking troubling. It plays on existential fears, insinuating that AI is a looming threat ready to replace us.
That framing is not just misleading - it’s manipulative, preying on people’s anxieties in an age where job security and identity are paramount.
By suggesting that we’re in a race against AI, it capitalizes on our deepest fears instead of fostering a balanced and informed dialogue.
@suetanvil @Daojoan Eh, it's definitely more than a fad (I can hardly imagine working without it at this point), but it is a square peg that's currently being stuffed into a bunch of round holes.
@gabrielesvelto Lots of stuff. But it's best at predicting things like mesh generation algorithms or common patterns like advanced grid/spatial collections.
Also, it can scaffold code like no other. If you want to use custom serialization (i.e. binarystream save/load functions) the AI can write those function perfectly for any object pretty reliably. Then you just fine-tune.
It can also be pretty good at identifying bugs in logic that conforms to standard formulas used in physics and linear algebra, which tends to be very dense and difficult-to-follow code.
@LouisIngenthron I'm honestly curious: what do you use it for? Most of what I work on is way to large to fit within the limitations of ChatGPT. Even when it does, it requires so much input that I'm faster writing the code on my own.
