Newsflash: Workers have never been motivated by making money for shareholders. This is what motivates CEOs and senior executives.

I learned nothing from the article. Why is the Panera suite interested in therapy and not in paying their employees more? Pay them enough to afford therapy. 200/wk on top of an increase to a living wage.

But the CEO would rather just wax poetic about treating symptoms instead of the underlying condition. They don't need to improve managers with therapy they need to pay more or close.

@drdrowland The ironic thing is that they used to do just that before they had shareholders.

I worked for a corporate Panera branch as a teenager. When they asked how much I expected to be paid in my interview, I needed the job, so I said "minimum wage". The manager interviewing me said "We can't get good people for minimum wage. How about [wage 50% more than minimum wage]?"

It's a far cry from what the company is today.
