Instead of posting primarily on @Lunatech@techhub.social I will instead be posting here at @Lunatech so if you want to follow my toots please add this account to your follow list. qoto.org has many options that most other Mastodon servers don't, such as longer toot lengths, but the big one for me is I will actually be able to see a list of the #hashtags I follow, which is currently not possible on techhub.social or most other #Mastodon servers. Also I believe it is possible to do quote toots here, which I realize is a polarizing feature among some long time Mastodon users.
@mcrocker I don't know what you meant by "Is it a problem of migration from Mastodon you something that isn't Mastodon?" but I could not figure out how to migrate my account in a way that would assure that I din't lose anything. Anyone who says it is easy to migrate an account from one instance to another is either smarter than I am, doesn't care if anything is lost in the process, or hasn't tried it on techhub.social. The one thing I wanted was at least for a few days to be able to go back and see if I had followed a particular hashtag, but on most Mastodon instances you have to check each hashtag individually, you can't access a list like you can on qoto.org (the fact that you can't get a list of the hashtags you follow in the stardard Mastodon software is the single biggest reason I moved).
And that 500 character limit is one of the big reasons to consider switching instances, qoto.org gives you a 65K+ limit (I still have 65020 characters left as Ityped the last "0" in that number), and techhub.social gave me 1000. Not sure why most Mastodon instances stop you at 500, that's just not quite enough if you need to actually explain anything (as in this toot). I doubt I will ever write a 65,000 character book on Mastodon but it is nice to not have the artificial limit.
