I have lists setup for my sports follows (most of whom haven't moved to Mastodon), with blocks and mutes for mentions of the last president & the current owner of the Birdsite.

If you need to go to the Birdsite for anything, highly recommend lists. Super curated to what you want to see, and (I think) ad-free, though I suppose that loophole may close if anyone still works there that realizes that.
