Excessive self doubt can affect anyone. It can ruin the best of ideas and plaque the brightest of minds. But you know what? It fools you into thinking that if you don't listen to it you're doomed.
🧵

Once upon a time my PhD supervisor said to me as I was preparing for a big interview: Nisreen, don't worry you'll never come across as arrogant so don't undersell yourself.
I still worry about arrogance & worry more about not doing stuff to the best that I could. Self doubt prevents you from defining 'your best' so it becomes this illusive perfectionist thing.

You look at other people and think oh they're so good or so smart or so articulate or so capable, and you think you have no place to be with them. They could be going through the same thought process.
So I'd like to break it and help others see that no matter how people regard you, self doubt doesn't care. It just keeps pushing you to misery.

Though you may think this misery is necessary for you to be become 'better', it is not. You know why? Because self doubt never lets you define 'better' to keep its hold on you. It can always get to chase better or more without you know what that excatly looks like.

My self doubt is so pushing me right now to delete this thread. I'm resisting....
