Obviously I expected the GOP would go from banning gender affirming care for children to attempting to do so for adults, but I will absolutely admit the speed they're moving through these steps is breathtaking.
The best I can come to understanding what they're doing, in terms of how unmooored it is from public opinion and what they'd want to do to win elections, is that they aren't anticipating a future where elections are held.
The best thing I can suggest if you are American and trans is to get the hell out of that shithole country!
It is a huge step, I know, I've dome it 5 times now, myself but it does get easier each time!
@Paulos_the_fog @e_urq They are not trans but my Sis and brother-in-law moved to a island off of Portugal last year and they are so relieved. The area I live in is holding off fundamentalist whackos but slim margin as they are moving in from other cities as ‘missionaries’. It’s a very organized movement with grifted financial backing
@Paulos_the_fog @e_urq Just live in a good state, often found with propensity of democratic voters where human rights and personal freedom are the standard for everyone. Where word transgender is just a word, and gender non conformimg people bring a smile.
@Paulos_the_fog I've considered it, but I'm really not sure I have that in me. Move back to Massachusetts, yes. Leave the country? Sure it sucks, but it's my home.
