@faustzero1 XMPP is obsoleted by #Matrix, in my opinion, but I understand some folks still prefer XMPP. (I'm not sure why.) That said, nobody I know actually uses either technology. I have a Matrix account for fun. But I usually try to get people onto #Signal, since it's easier for them to use.
Have you guys heard about session 😊?
@orbital @Sphinx @faustzero1 It's actually even less than a fork nowadays, they have removed things like Perfect Forward Secrecy from Session, because they weren't able to make it work (and then opted to just drop it entirely). It's not particularly reassuring if privacy features are getting dropped because of technical difficulties, while so many other messengers out there implement it that it's hard to not consider it state of the art...
@Sphinx @faustzero1 Yes, I'm familiar with Session but I prefer to stick with the official version of Signal, not a fork like Session.
