Today marks the anniversary of Bucha's liberation from occupation. On March 31, the town was freed from the Russian occupiers after 33 days of occupation. During this time, the Prosecutor Generals Office of Ukraine reported that 637 civilians were killed, 422 bodies were exhumed, and 1173 bodies were found throughout the Bucha district. Additionally, 278 residents of the Kyiv region are still missing.
Since the liberation, 80 percent of the locals have returned to Bucha - more than 40,000 people. The city has begun the process of reconstruction and development, with more than 3,000 residential, social and critical infrastructure facilities destroyed or damaged by the Russians. The recovery process, which began almost immediately after the de-occupation, is still ongoing.
