The HALO Trust reports that nearly 100% of explosive devices discovered in Ukraine remain fully functional. A representative from this international non-profit organization, dedicated to humanitarian demining, notes that their work in Ukraine is made challenging by the presence of complex areas containing various types of threats. For instance, a single piece of land might harbor both anti-personnel high-explosive and anti-tank mines.
The extent of land contaminated by explosive objects is so vast that, without the introduction of innovative demining techniques, progress remains disproportionately slow compared to the urgent need for land usage by the population.
Since the onset of the large-scale conflict, the organization's specialists have surveyed nearly 13 square kilometers and successfully demined almost 2.5 square kilometers of territory.
