For the first time since Soviet times, the Kremlin will direct almost a third of all expenses to the maintenance of the army and the defense-industrial complex. In 2024, 10.775 trillion rubles will be spent on national defense—70% more than in 2023, 2.3 times more than in 2022, and three times more than in the pre-war year 2021.

30% of the 2024 budget will go to the army and the People's Army, 40% to all security forces together.
