Where efforts to capture local school boards and are effective, it can happen. School systems and libraries have existing policies for materials review. These efforts are about circumventing existing policies by fiat.

@elyseea and it isn't just 1 district, there is at least 1 other district to do this already and 1 more that may follow.
There are strong, well funded, concerted efforts to erase Black history along with LGBTQIA people. We should all be shaken by this and moved to action.

The general "inattention" to local school politics is understandable when local school politics managed to stay somewhat protected from partisanship (never fully, of course). But those days are gone, and these efforts go directly toward delegitimizing specific youth and families who equally deserve to be served safely and well by public institutions.
