"MPC’s fifth group of prehistoric animals included one truly original mold in the form of Diatryma (ie Gastornis), one of the earliest plastic representations of this icon from the post-Mesozoic age."
New on the Dinosaur Toy Blog, the MPC Diatryma:

@AdamStuartSmith I had a bunch of those toys when I was a kid, but I don't remember that color of plastic.
@ambulocetus Some of the colours might be rarer than others, I don't know. Marx and MPC were before my time so I didn't grow up with them myself. My childhood dinosaur toys were the British Museum Invicta models, which are similar to the older Marx and MPC lines in many ways. I still have the whole set...
@AdamStuartSmith i must be a little older than you. I had various dino figures, but I think some of them were knock-offs.
But around 1974 or 75, I got a complete Marx set for Christmas, with a base and with trees and cycads, and some rocky caves. It had all rare ones like Ceratogaulus and Moschops, and Sphenacodon. It also included the bigger version of Brontosuarus and the cooler version of T. Rex, and it also had a couple of cavemen, one of whom was poised in the midst of throwing a large rock over his head. I hadn't even thought about it until now, but now I kind of wish I still had it.
@AdamStuartSmith I had the Struthiomimus! I don't have any now though. It's nice looking at other people's collections, I will look into the forum.
@ambulocetus Great, maybe see you there. And keep your eyes peeled for my Struthiomimus review, coming soon, I'll share the link here as I always do. 🙂
