you have to be so insanely rich to propose a 30 percent sales tax — I guess if you are rich enough buying things becomes incidental to spending “real money” on investments, congresspersons and bribes. Things like paying for clothes and a snack? that’s not real money.

Also you hate businesses. How is this even uttered with a straight face.

@futurebird It appeals to a naive sense of fairness, same as the idea of f flat income tax rate: Everybody pays the same.

Of course, it falls apart when you think about it for a minute. It can be counterintuitive that x percent of your income can be both a pittance to the super-rich and unbearable to the poor even if the rich person is paying orders of magnitude more, but it's trivial to observe that x DOLLARS is a lot more to a poor person than a rich one. I hope people can see through it.

@linebyline @futurebird A regular person who hasn't had their head filled with nonsense for 40 years can see through it, but the billionaire owners of the media have been preparing for this one for a long time. I'm already hearing acquaintances on Facebook say "the job creators will stimulate the economy and the wealth will trickle down." Unless we can deprogram these automatons, we will be outnumbered.
