Energy is related to wavelength; E = hν, so higher energy equates to shorter wavelength. The two aren't *exactly* interchangeable, but they're essentially the same concept.
So, for example, ultraviolet has higher energy/higher frequency (shorter wavelength) than infrared. This is true irrespective of whether you treat photons as waves or particles.
