@RTP This seems pretty innocuous just based on the article. The goal is to *not* power on the camera so users aren't spooked by the light. I'm not saying it couldn't be abused, I don't know enough about the kernel to make that claim. However, at the moment I'm more annoyed you might not know your new laptops webcam was DOA until you try and use it.
@b6hydra I agree. It is likely nothing and they seem transparent about their motivations, and all is well. 👍
