the problem with EU and germany in particular is that we played humanitarian savior of the world.

completely ignored the need to plan for things like these times.

we have taken too many refugees. we have switched off nuclear power. we wanted to go completely fossil free so we switched/planned to switch off coal plants. we ignored that our armies materiel is mostly broken because we were "too good for wars" and didn't spend any money on it, even for defensive systems.

the policies of our german government in the last decades are a complete disaster.
