The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility.

Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it.

the dutch bike stuff is really nice and i'm all in favor of having solid bike infrastructure, but these calculations of "19 billion saved!111" feel like made up. you can't realistically calculate those numbers, there are so many variables.

you can do these things without additional monetary benefits.

A few thoughts / 'realities' perhaps:
- always what power says it was goes or gets said most, so whatever they calculate and however they do it
(TRANSPARENCY NOT THERE FOR THEIR FORMULAS / ALGORITHMS)

- Currently you can't do anything without additional monetary benefits (or only can at a short time and then you run out). I guess the raw number go back to banks and debt... everything runs off it therefore this mini-point (which is a large point in life) means is more correct than any other virtue than conditional greed / debt and the terms and conditions set by everyone from bank thereafter for more % or profit also.

Ok that's enough from me. Let me know your thoughts or how the above is not correct more-often-than-not correct.

Thanks again.

P.S - Not claiming I know how to get out of a Ponzi scheme or profit loop but I know suggesting to other to lessen their power (or get rid of power itself as their self-given 'job' to make people suffer as hands of debt, is a hard thing to do!)

Well you can make these claims but you should also give an uncertainty (which in this case might indeed be very hard to do).

Would be great if it would become general practice to publish values only with uncertainties (1 sigma, 2 sigma ...).

Good chance though that people
would cheat or be sloppy when calculating uncertainties.

@TheSecondVariation
one can make any claim one wants :D

it would sure help to include uncertainties, but as you said, people would probably cheat. just like they cheat now, only without giving uncertainties.
