The last 3 nuclear power plants in Germany will be closed on Saturday.

Germany, after more than 60 years, completely abandons its own nuclear power industry: the authorities disconnect the last three operating nuclear power plants from the network. twitter.com/i/web/status/16471

idk, people here were somehow traumatized by chernobyl. i get if one doesn't want old reactors which might explode and make large swaths of germany uninhabitable.

i _don't_ get that people are so much against nuclear energy that they won't even want research into safe designs.

germany really is the european powerhouse of stupidity now.

I see the root causes in a following way:

Observable:
The reason has been taken over by emotions.

What they did:
I think they saw only a binary choice here:
-Full 'woke' monty
vs
-Fully cynical "Hard logic".

How it works elsewhere:
You can mix and match reason and emotions, you dont have to apply only one to all the issues.

@PawelK @spriter99880 @faust
indeed!

i think one thing also is that the prototypical german believes he's absolutely in the right. his ideas are the correct solution for every situation. the left is the worst in this regard, considering everyone who doesn't subscribe to their tribe not only as stupid but evil.

frightening how we germans went from having people like goethe etc. to those people we now let loose onto the world.

it's really tiresome for me.

@PawelK @spriter99880 @faust

NB: i also tend to fall into the german know-it-all trap, but it try my best to change it ;)

@bonifartius @spriter99880 @faust

To some extent its natural and built-in in all of us, see 'confirmation bias', but reason shall say now and then at least: "is it necessarily so?", " is there no other interpretation possible?".

When their children learn it, and start practicing regularly, this now wouldnt happen, and even 1939 would be much much harder to happen if possible at all.

@PawelK @spriter99880 @faust
at least people in 2021 should have known better than to mark and exclude people.

those who were the most feverish proponents of exclusion and coercion by punishment were leftists. leftists who had the gall to accuse people who were against exclusion, lockdowns, for listening to other scientific opinions, of being right-wing conspiracy theorists.

it really is clown world.

@PawelK @spriter99880 @faust i just want that everyone can do whatever they wish as longas it doesn't infringes on others rights. currently it's some things that are considered totally great, others are verboten without any sense

@bonifartius @spriter99880 @faust

Polish leadership now, might have similar problem.

By studying about your people case, I also learn about mine and our, on the polish side of my roots and soul.

@PawelK @spriter99880 @faust
polish and german history is so intertwined, i think it's hard to really seperate them. if you look at the history, those "giant" countries we now have are a bit unnatural anyway, they were (at least germany, idk that well about poland) much smaller and more fractioned for the longest time. i probably in some aspects have a bigger cultural connection to regions of poland than to bavaria.

@bonifartius @spriter99880 @faust

Polish history was similar in a sense, although saying so is near-criminal over there now.

Less than average-stupid over there are well aware of it, and keep fingers crossed for those times return again.

I can assure You, although in past it could get You in trouble, an unorthodoxy of Yours and alikes over there, would easily make You and them look sympathetic to ones with a Slavic soul.

@bonifartius @spriter99880 @faust

And both their leadership in the past, and their people of the times believed it.

It sounds dangerously close to orthodoxy being in their culture, national-code maybe.

Sad and depressing for me more than You, and in more than one way, trust me.

I am with you at such time. Many of my peoples are.

@bonifartius @PawelK @spriter99880 Especially since chernobyl was to a large extend the fault of the faulty reactor design (they didnt shield it from the outside with an extra concrete layer, as is normally the case) and soviet bureaucratic corruption.

@faust @spriter99880 @bonifartius

Of course, on chernobyl dissimilarity, nobody builds them anymore.

On Fukushima dissimilarity, what is the probability of earthquake striking spots with NPPs in Germany, possibly coupled with Tsunami.
