Why does my car charger have a sim card in it? Why is there an on/off switch behind the front cover? Dropped it, front fell off, wtf?

@Alphakilopapa some german car insurances give you discount if you plug in a logger transmitting your driving behavior. might be one of those, at least kind of explains the sim card. still scary shit.
@bonifartius @Alphakilopapa at least in the US those go on the OBD port and read telemetry off the car's computer. this one (almost certainly) just does GPS. either way they need cell network access to easily transmit the data home
