After all the 60 years Elysée Treaty "we want to fix France-Germany rail!" fuss... I have been looking into what to *actually* do, and a blog post will be forthcoming

But the currently shocking thing is this: only 2 types of trains are currently allowed for 🇫🇷🇩🇪 regional services - the X 73900 fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_73900 and RS1 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadler_

These are both *single carriage diesel railbuses*. And 3 lines on which they run are even electrified 🤦‍♂️

We need a lot more than a youth ticket!

@jon I'm sure @bmdv has already commissioned the development of nuclear fusion powered dual-carriage railbuses. They should arrive any minute now.

@cweickhmann Oh you don't know how close to the truth you are there!

They have - with a horrid procurement - ordered some tri-voltage *and diesel* multiple units from Alstom. But CAF then bought the works, and the trains have not been approved yet. Over engineered, and quite a mess...

@jon Oh, please, no! My jokes are supposed to be ridiculous exaggerations of the truth. I shall not joke about German transport policy anymore, I guess. 🤦

(However, the electrical engineer in me would like to see that tri-voltage system though. 😂 )

@cweickhmann Tri-voltage is no issue per se. But I don’t get why it needs 1.5kv dc as lines with that in France are a long way from Germany!
