All right, so you think there are no #borders inside a country? Think again!
I just received the yearly staff information about carnival. My location (state of Hessen) gets a half day off on Tuesday (Faschingsdienstag, literal translation Carnival Tuesday). The partnered institute in Mainz (state of Rhineland Palatine) gets a full day off on Monday (Rosenmontag, literal translation Rose Monday).
None of these days are official holidays. But Mainz takes carnival very, very seriously.
