His supposed rationale - that it’s to stop bots - is laughably funny. Twitter has more of a bot problem today that 12 months ago *because of Musk’s decisions*. Now this is to put it right? 😂

Bots can be and were a very useful part of Twitter, but the kind of bots that thrive are a reflection of the platform policies and social atmosphere. Since Musk took over the chaos, crypto, and spam bots are louder than ever while the good bots that amplified the utility of Twitter have been policy dumped into the dustbin.
I don't think he'll end up making Twitter paid. I wish he would. I'd love to see it burn.

In my analogy, the "bots" are the "nukes" of Twitter: Completely hyped and only used rhetorically to scare people; though, the more Space Karen does his thing, the more likely it becomes that they may be used and cause damage.
I know, used responsibly, they are extremely useful. I use bots in the Fediverse too. But contrary to the general public I know what they are and do.
